Beijing suburb hosts snow & ice carnival

An ice and snow carnival has just started to make the best of this chilly winter at a popular natural scenery spot. (GMW.cn)

While Harbin may have the most famous snow and ice festival, people in Beijing now also have a chance to enjoy loads of fun with ice sculptures, without going far. An ice and snow carnival has just started to make the best of this chilly winter at a popular natural scenery spot.

Hundreds of illuminated ice lanterns and sculptures in all sizes, have transformed the Longqingxia Gorge into a fantasy world. The energy-efficient lights provide the glow for the lanterns, designed highlight Chinese folk culture.

Other amusements on offer include--but are not limited to--snow bungee jumping, ice bowling, and hot spring bathing.
