NAC Breda were forced to a 1-1 draw by visitors NEC Nijmegen Saturday night to move to the top of the Dutch premier league table temporarily, while defending champions PSV Eindhoven regained composure to whitewash Heracles 4-0 to halt their two-match losing streak.
In Breda, the hosts found themselves a goal down after 27 minutes into the match when Lass Shone opened the scoring for the visitors. Nine minutes into the second half, midfielder Edwin De Graaf equalized for Breda.
The draw put Breda one point ahead of archrivals Ajax, who are scheduled to play on Sunday against tough AZ Alkmaar. Ajax can overtake Breda with a draw or win.
In Eindhoven, the defending champions, who were desperate to win a match to regain confidence, took advantage of a weak opponent in Heracles, scoring all the four goals in the first half.
Rodriguez Francisco opened the account at the 15th minute, followed by goals by Ibrahim Afelley at the 29th, Danko Lazovic at the 32nd and Balazs Dzsudzsak at the 38th minute respectively.
With the win, PSV rose to 5th on the league table, and halted a two-match losing streak.
In other actions on Saturday, Twente whipped Heerenveen 6-0 surprisingly, while De Graafschap drew 3-3 with Sparta Rotterdam.
