Technical barriers swallowed US$75.8 billion last year

The Ministry of Commerce published research data showing that foreign technical trade measures still seriously influence China's overall foreign trade. There has been a significant increase in direct loss and cost of production.

The research shows that 15.22 percent of Chinese enterprises are influenced by foreign technical trade measures. Therefore, that one in every seven enterprises is being affected. The export industries suffered the direct losses of US$75.8 billion, up by 9.7 percent more than 2005. The increased production costs accumulated in response to foreign technical trade measures reached US$26.2 billion, up by 20.74 percent more than 2005.
