The Nepali Election Commission ( EC) has proposed to schedule the constituent assembly (CA) election for Nov. 22, reported nepalnews.com Friday.
As per the schedule, the EC will publish the election program on Sept. 22. The political parties and individuals will have to file their candidacy by Sept. 24 for direct election and by Sept. 26 for election based on proportional representation.
The EC will issue the election symbols to candidates and parties by Oct. 10. The commission has set aside 41 days for candidates' public campaign.
The voting will be held on Nov. 22 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time, the EC has proposed.
The EC held discussion on its proposed schedule with representatives of political parties on Friday.
"We have also urged the parties to form a joint 8-party mechanism up to the booth level. This will greatly facilitate the mobilization of our employees," said Chief Election Commissioner ( CEC) Bhojraj Pokharel.
The proposed schedule will be finalized after discussion with the political parties in the interim parliament.
