A department head from the State Administration of Taxation said that recently no timetable has been set to levy fuel tax, at the news conference on revenue of the State Administration of Taxation in the first half of the year.
In response to one reporter's question: "Since the price of oil is high, should the government levy a fuel tax?" this head explained that whether or not to levy fuel tax not only depends on the price of oil, but also involves many departments. The program should be confirmed by the State Department, and there is no timetable at present.
When indicating the time when income tax law on enterprises is to be published, this leader said that the new enterprise income tax law will be implemented on January 1, 2008. The rules are still being formulated and will be published in the second half of this year.
This principal also said that under the endorsement of many departments including the Legislative Affairs Office(LAO)of the State Council, the Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Taxation, China's resource tax reform is going smoothly.
