Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon Thursday wanted his team Juventus to advance to top-four of Serie A in the upcoming season.
Buffon said there are teams that are stronger favorites than Juve, but "I think we could do better than anyone imagines," according to the local media reports.
Buffon admitted that a top-four finish, which would guarantee a place in the 2008-09 Champions League, would be a good result for a team that has just come up from Serie B.
But he implied that even that might be aiming too low and predicted that Juve will give everyone a hard time, including Serie A title-holders Inter Milan and European champions AC Milan.
He said his optimism is fuelled by the club's closed-season buys. "We have done excellent business on the transfer market," he said.
"We are the team that has been most active, although that was natural as we have come up from Serie B. We have bought some excellent internationals and a pair of really promising youngsters".
Juve have drafted in Portugal midfielder Tiago from French champs Lyon and Argentine midfielder Sergio Almiron from Empoli.
Things are looking good up front too, thanks to the arrival of Vincenzo Iaquinta, a member of Italy's World Cup-winning squad, from Udinese.
Juve have strengthened their defence by signing Czech international Zdenek Grygera from Ajax, Portugal captain Jorge Andrade from Deportivo La Coruna and Italy Under-21 player Domenico Criscito from Genoa, the local reports said.
