Nigeria national senior women's team, the Super Falcons, will train in Europe ahead of the World Cup finals in China next month, according to the Nigeria Football Association.
The NFA said on Tuesday that it always realized the need to have the team train in Europe ahead of the competition.
"We will always seek to prepare our teams ahead of major championships," said Bolaji Ojo-Oba, the Secretary-General of the NFA.
"The U-20 team did not train in Europe before Canada not because the NFA did not want it, but because the players did not get entry visas from the German Embassy. We have already paid for training facilities for them in Nuremberg.
"The Golden Eaglets did not go to England because they also did not get entry visas, not because the NFA did not care about them.
"The Falcons will start its World Cup preparations in Europe on August 25 and fly out to China on Sept. 4, six days before the start of the World Cup. We already have the funds for them to go to Europe and train," he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Nathaniel Idowu, a former Vice-Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association, has urged the Super Falcons players to put behind the defeat to Ghana in an Olympic qualifying game in Accra on Sunday when Nigeria lost 1-0.
Idowu, who hosted the team to a grand reception in Lagos on Monday, praised the players for winning the women's football gold at the just concluded Algiers 2007 All Africa Games.
"Put aside your loss to Ghana and concentrate on your next assignment, which is the World Cup in China," he said.
