Mali and Niger are planning to work closely in a bid to eradicate "organized crime" which is prevailing along their common border, official Malian sources said on Monday.
The ministers in charge of security from the two countries are set to meet as soon as on Monday, the official sources were quoted as saying by the African News Agency (APA).
During the meeting, the minister will hold deliberations with a view to establishing strategies, a framework as well as both human and material resources which will be employed in the fight against the rising cases of organized crime on their common border.
Malian Interior Minister Sadio Gassama Saturday held discussion with the local administration and elected leaders in Gao, a region near the border with Niger, in readiness for the meeting with his Nigerien counterpart who is also expected to hold national-level discussions.
