German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit London Wednesday for talks with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, a German government spokesman said Monday.
The two leaders will talk about bilateral and international issues during Merkel's first visit to Britain since Brown succeeded Tony Blair as prime minister, said spokesman Ulrich Wilhelm.
A press conference is expected after their talks Wednesday evening, said Wilhelm.
In July, Brown met Merkel in Berlin on his first trip abroad since he became prime minister. Brown has described relations between Britain and Germany as "excellent."
Merkel said a close relationship between Germany and Britain is "particularly important" for the well-being of Europe and good trans-Atlantic relations.
