Nepali police nabbed seven youths possessing a cache of weapons from Thamel, the tourist hub of the capital city Kathmandu Tuesday.
According to local media, the police recovered two pistols, nine rounds of bullets for self-loading rifle, three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and knives from the gang while they were planning a robbery at a guest house in Thamel area.
Inspector Ramesh Thapa of the Metropolitan Police Sector, the armed group were planning a robbery in the Kathmandu when they were arrested. The police also recovered maps and papers with information about the major financial houses of the capital city.
The police claimed that the arrestees were the deserters from the Communist Party of Nepal Maoist) (CPN-M army and were involved in robberies and other criminal activities in the past.
"We had increased our vigilance and deployed a number of police personnel to nab the group after getting a tip off that armed people were getting organized in the area three days ago," Inspector Thapa told the local media house's website THT online.
