Around 35 fishermen of eight trawlers went missing in the Bay of Bengal on Saturday and Sunday as their trawlers capsized in the rough sea.

The fishing trawlers with some 105 fishermen capsized in the country's southern areas in the Bay of Bengal caught by storms, private news agency UNB reported Monday.

Some 70 fishermen managed to swim ashore but the 35 others remained missing, the report added.

Lieutenant Commander of Coast Guard Mongla (some 170 km southwest of capital Dhaka) west zone Faisal M Mahmud said they are trying hard to rescue the missing fishermen.
