The U.S. military announced Saturday two more deaths of its soldiers, who were killed earlier in the day in separate incidents in Iraq.
A Task Force Lightning soldier was shot dead Saturday by "enemy gunfire" in the restive Diyala province northeast of Baghdad, the military said in a brief statement.
Another soldier also died Saturday in a small arms attack during an operation in southern Baghdad, according to a separate statement.
The names of the soldiers were withheld until family could be notified.
The latest death brings the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to more than 3,800 since the outbreak of the Iraqi war in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
