Recently, the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), which owns exclusive U.S. media rights for the Olympics, and MultiCultural Radio Broadcasting Inc. (MRBI) signed an agreement stating that when the Beijing Olympic Games are broadcast by cable television partners, the MRBI will provide explanations in Chinese and Korean.
"NBC was seeking to expand our foreign language coverage of the Beijing Olympic Games within the United States; and was attracted by MultiCultural Broadcasting's experience in distributing media to America's Chinese and Korean communities," said Gary Zenkel, President of NBC Olympics.
"MultiCultural Broadcasting and NBC plan to provide Olympic coverage in Chinese and Korean since these programs will allow Chinese and Korean Americans in the United States to watch favored Olympic sports, such as Table Tennis for our Chinese American audience and Tae Kwon Do for Korean Americans, in their native languages," said Arthur Liu, President of MultiCultural Radio Broadcasting Inc., "as well as basketball, soccer, volleyball and baseball games."
