The government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), at the suggestion of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee, appropriated 1.29 million Hong Kong Dollars (HKD), from the disaster relief fund given by the Hong Kong Christian Council (HKCC), in aid to the snowstorm victims in Guangxi and Yunnan Provinces.
Therefore, GovHK's aid to the Chinese mainland's snowstorm disaster has accumulated to over 238.72 million HKD.
A spokesperson of GovHK said that Guangxi and Yunnan provinces have all been severely affected by the disaster. The Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee hopes that the appropriations can provide needed assistance to the snowstorm victims in these areas. The Commission will require the HKCC to submit a review and audit accounts after the disaster relief project is complete to ensure that the money was used for its intended purpose.
