After advancing into e-commerce and launching IM software, Baidu.com Inc. set its sights on the network game domain. In April 22, Baidu announced its official entrance into the games industry through a joint operation; and its games and entertainment platform appeared on the same day.

The first batch of seven free games has already been launched on Baidu's games and entertainment platform. Baidu enters the online game industry through a joint operation with professional game operators: Baidu provides the platform and game operators provide specific game operations and maintenance. Currently, five game operators have partnered with Baidu.

According to the latest research from Analysys International, in 2007, the scale of China's Internet game market was 12.8 billion yuan. In the next 4-5 years, the market will continue to maintain an increase of over 20 percent, and the market scale will grow to 40.1 billion yuan in 2011.
