Rogge said on May 20, in Lausanne, that the Olympic Movement stands in solidarity with Chinese quake victims; and expressed his heartfelt condolences to those affected by the earthquake which struck China's Sichuan Province. He also offered his sincere sympathy and solicitude for the Chinese Government and people on behalf of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Rogge said his and the IOC members' hearts go out to the Chinese people at this sad time. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will keep a close watch on the disaster and relief efforts; and is ready to offer assistance to the quake-ravaged areas.
