According to reports, Japan's third-largest car manufacturer, Nissan, announced on May 28 that it will build a new light commercial vehicle (LCV) production plant in cooperation with Nissan's local partner in China.

Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. (DFL) will build a new LCV plant in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. Production will start in 2010, for an installed capacity of more than 120,000 vehicles per year.

DFL, Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. (DFAC) and Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (NCIC) will jointly invest 145 million USD for the new plant's construction. It will be Nissan's fifth vehicle production plant in China.

DFL sold 610,000 vehicles in 2007; and will aim for more than 1 million units in vehicle sales by 2012.
