Should no serious disaster weather occur, China's summer grain output will hit a record high, with total output rising for the fifth consecutive year, said Agriculture Minister Sun Zhengcai.
Experts believe that this encouraging information demonstrates that China's summer grain production has come out of the "fluctuation odd cycle" - 2 or 3 years of consecutive increase production and then reduced output – and has leapt to a new stage of stable output and increased production. The facts prove that preferential policies supporting agriculture and farmers insisted on by our government are playing a tremendous role in protecting the interests of farmers; promoting grain increase production; and ensuring garin security.
Over the past 20 years, China's grain production has fluctuated between bumper harvests and shortfalls in harvests; and failed to keep output stable and increase the production continuum for more than three years.
However, from 2004 to the present, China has had bumper grain harvests; and the total grain output reached 501.5 billion kg in 2007. The output this year is expected to hit a record high and realize an increase in production increase for five consecutive years.
