After six people died after being given human immunoglobulin in Jiangxi Province, the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) urged the manufacturer - Jiangxi Yabo Bio-pharmaceutical Co., (JYBC) - to recall this batch of drugs. Currently JYBC has sealed and recalled 6,383 human immunoglobulin drugs from the batch. The local authorities and a team from the SFDA are investigating the case.
The company had sold 9,575 drugs with the batch number 20070514; and 3,192 of them have been used. The remaining 6,383 have been sealed and recalled.
Six people died between May 22 and 28 at the No. 2 Hospital Affiliated with Nanchang University, in Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi Province, after being given human immunoglobulin produced by the Jiangxi Yabo Bio-pharmaceutical Co.(JYBC), with the batch number 20070514.
Initial testing has shown that there are problems with some of the products, according to the SFDA.
