Japan's Sharp Corp. recently disclosed that they will re-enter and compete in the Chinese mobile phone market. Sharp is the first Japanese company to annouonce its comeback in the Chinese mobile phone market since Japaness mobile phone manufacturers announced withdrawal from China's market.
Sharp believes that the Chinese mobile phone market will maintain an annual growth rate of 25 percent; and by 2010, the size of the market will reach 300 million mobile phones. Sharp will enter the high-end market. High-end phones worth 3,000 yuan occupy little more than 10 percent market shares, but sales volume has increased significantly in the last three years, said Sharp, optimistic about the Chinese market's high-end mobile phone sales prospects.
