According to reports, China's direct investment into five countries in Northeast Asia has grown rapidly in recent years. According to incomplete statistics, nearly 4 billion U.S. dollars - 4 percent of China's total - go to foreign direct investment, said vice commerce minister Gao Hucheng on July 14.
Gao Hucheng spoke at the press conference of the 4th China Jilin-Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo (NAITE) that in 2007, trade between China and five countries in Northeast Asia including Japan, South Korea, Russia, Mongolia and North Korea amounted to 448.9 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 20.7 percent of China's total foreign trade volume. By the end of 2007, China had absorbed 101.2 billion USD of direct investment from Japan, South Korea and Russia, accounting for 13.3 percent of total direct investment absorbed by China.
