Yao Hui, deputy director of the Venue Management Department of the BOCOG, said on August 20 at the press conference held at the Beijing International Media Center that since the opening of the Games, all competition venues have served nearly 34,000 athletes and over 4.3 million spectators. The Olympic Park has received over 1.3 million visitors.
Yao Hui said that 80 percent of Beijing's 31 competition venues have an average spectator attendance rate exceeding 80 percent. At the initial stage of the Olympic Games, the some venues holding games which began quite early in the morning or closed quite late in the evening were not quite full. But as the games progressed the situation has been improved. No major security incidents or public order issues have been reported at or surrounding competition venues.
