According to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), from January to July, the AQSIQ inspected and quarantined 9,637,100 batches of goods; and 59,720 batches were deemed substandard. The substandard goods were valued at 29.851 billion U.S. dollars.
At entry inspection and quarantine, substandard goods included metal ore, cotton, oilseeds and timber, mainly because of quality defects, and lacking quantity and weight.
At exit inspection and quarantine, substandard goods included clothing, shoes and animal aquatic products. The main reasons for these items' substandard rating included the poor manufacturing and assembly of goods and quality defects.
