Guangzhou's animation industry is now in the ascendant, and Guangzhou is quickening its steps towards the "capital of animation in south China", according to the information from the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Cartoon, Animation and Games Exhibition.

Guangzhou's animation industry has maintained strong development momentum. The annual output value of the animation industry exceed 10 billion yuan (excluding derivatives), or approximately one-fifth of China's total.

Zhu Xiaodan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of CPC, and Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of CPC said that Guangzhou should devote major efforts to developing service industry, and take great pains to create a "regional creative capital."

As one of the four state-level animation industry bases, Guangzhou launched a series of policies in recent years to support the independent innovation. A game-related industrial chain has been formed in Tianhe District with the support of institutions of higher learning and outstanding enterprises, such as the NetEase and the Alpha. The annual production value of the chain exceeded 4 billion yuan.
