The First China International Cyclic Economy Expo 2008, unveiled on October 23 in Qingdao, became a great platform for exhibitors from all over the world to showcase their cyclic economy development achievements. Meanwhile, a large number of world's leading cyclic economy technologies and projects from home and abroad were presented at the exhibition.
Wang Jinxiang, Vice Director of the National Development and Reform Commission said at the opening ceremony that China's comprehensive unitization ratio of industrial solid waste reached 62.8 percent in 2007, 2.6 percent higher than the previous year. The decontamination rate of urban refuse reached 56 percent, 4 percentage point higher than the previous year.
With the theme of "Developing a Cyclic Economy for a Resource-Saving and Environment-Friendly Society," the Expo was co-organized by seven ministries and departments, including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, as well as, the Provincial Government of Shandong and the Municipal Government of Qingdao.
