The seventh seminar on the cultural development strategy for Guangzhou opens at the scenic Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center today.
Central and regional government officials and renowned experts from home and abroad will attend the event that will conclude tomorrow to share their ideas and suggestions on strategic development of culture and related industries in Guangzhou.
Hosted by the city Party committee and the government of Guangzhou, the seminar will provide an overview of the achievements the city has realized in cultural development in the past three decades of China's opening up and reform.
Zhu Xiaodan, member of the standing committee of Guangdong provincial Party committee and secretary of Guangzhou municipal Party committee, will deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony.
The city authorities began to host the event in 1986, with the target and task of each seminar furthering the city's cultural development.
Analysts believe that the event reflects Guangzhou's determination to enhance the "soft power" of its culture to realize greater prosperity.
