According to the General Administration of China Customs, over the 10 years since its establishment, the anti-smuggling police force of China Customs has placed on file, investigated and handled 12,539 cases of various types of smuggling, worth over 149.1 billion yuan, and compulsory measures have been imposed on 32,189 suspects of criminal smuggling. Efforts have effectively curbed the growing trend of large-scale smuggling.
Meanwhile, the anti-smuggling police force of China Customs and other countries and regions have been working together to actively crack down on smuggling cases of non-tax categories including illegal drug trafficking. It has joined hands with the police in Thailand and the Taiwan region, as well as the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department, to successfully crack the "7.07," "1.23," "1.11" cross border drug trafficking cases. It has also carried out special tasks to crackdown on airport drug trafficking in cooperation with six countries and regions including United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan, and has ferreted out 58 drug trafficking cases, which achieved noticeable effects.
