The Urban Appearance and Environmental Administration Bureau of Nanchang City recently signed an agreement with the Hong Kong-based Biomax Green Energy Group to build Jiangxi Province's first domestic waste incineration power plant—the Nanchang Quanling Domestic Waste Incineration Power Plant—in Liangjiadu, Quanling Township, Jinxian County of Nanchang City.

An official with the project said construction on the Nanchang Quanling Domestic Waste Incineration Power Plant will begin in the first half of 2009 with a total investment of around 480 million yuan. It will be a BOT (build-operate-transfer) project with a scheduled construction period of 2 years and an operation period of 25 years. After the project is completed, it will be able to deal with a maximum of 1,200 tons of waste per day. With a maximum power generating capacity of 108.3 million kilowatt-hours per year, it will be able to provide 84.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to power grids after deducting the power consumption required for the incineration process.

Reporters learned that the Nanchang Quanling Domestic Waste Incineration Power Plant will adopt the nation's advanced waste incineration techniques and pollution control technology. It will be able to effectively control liquid, gas, residue and noise pollution produced in the process of garbage burning. By then, domestic waste from areas including Jinxian County, Nanchang County and Qingyunpu District can be directly transported to Quanling for incineration and management.
