This year, the China's State Forestry Administration will draw up general development plans for wetland parks, will carry out pilot programs for national wetland parks and will build 60 new wetland parks.

The State Forestry Administration this year will also organize and conduct the second national survey on wetland resources and will complete the work of proclaiming China's wetlands of international relevance.

China has already built 38 national wetland parks, including Sun Island in Harbin and the Wuhan East Lake. China has 36 wetlands of international importance and over 550 wetland type of nature reserves nationwide. Fresh water in China's wetlands maintains a volume of around 2.7 trillion tons, accounting for 96 percent of total fresh water resources available nationwide.
