Recently, the central government unveiled a 33.4 billion yuan 2009 budget for post-earthquake recovery and reconstruction, of which 29.4 billion yuan will go to Sichuan, 2.3 billion yuan to Gansu, and 1.7 billion yuan to Shaanxi. So far the central government has allocated a total of almost 85 billion yuan in post-earthquake recovery and reconstruction funds in its budget this year, accounting for 65 percent of the 130 billion yuan budget planned for the entire year.

This has provided strong support for the drive in post-disaster recovery and reconstruction work and will expedite reconstruction projects such as the rebuilding of farm houses, schools, hospitals and other infrastructure facilities in disaster-stricken areas.
