No Chinese oil company staff were injured in a recent armed clash in Ecuador, said Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gang at a regular briefing on Tuesday.

Qin did not specify when the attack on the oil field in Ecuador had occurred, or reveal the name of the Chinese company, but confirmed that an attack had occurred, forcing a halt to production.

According to Qin, local armed police forces were injured during the clash, but no Chinese staff.

"The Chinese government is very concerned about the incident and our embassy in Ecuador is maintaining close contact with the local government," Qin said.

The situation in the area is stabilizing, Qin added.

Qin disclosed no further detail about the incident.
