Both the local and global community recognize that the principle of "one country, two systems" has been successfully implemented in Hong Kong, Hong KongSecretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Stephen Lam saidon Wednesday.
Speaking at an event celebrating the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland and the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Lam said the Basic Lawprovides new room for the city's development.
He said Hong Kong has made more progress in constitutional development over the past 10 years than that before its return. A green paper on constitutional development will be issued to consult the public.
On the principle of "one country, two systems", Lam said its successful implementation in Hong Kong has been very important in enabling the city to find new room for development.
He said Hong Kong people look forward to the implementation of 'Three Links' across the Taiwan Strait and the early reunificationof the nation.
