China congratulates Russian city on hosting Winter Olympics |

China on Thursday congratulated the Russian city of Sochi in Krasnadar province on winning the right to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.
"We believe Russia will host a successful Winter Olympics," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang at a regular news briefing.
"We share the happiness of the Russian people," Qin added, responding to a question from a Russian reporter.
The Russian city of Sochi won the right to host the 2014 Winter Olympics at the 119th International Olympic Committee's assembly, which formally began in Guatemala on Wednesday.
The city of 400,000 people lies between the snow-capped Caucasus Mountains and the Black Sea.
It will be the first time for Russia to host the Winter Olympic Games, although it hosted the Summer Olympic Games in 1980.
