Togolese president terms China as true friend (2) |

The Chinese side attached great importance to the traditional friendship between the two countries, Zhai said before adding that his country was ready to work with the Togolese side with a view to consolidating and developing ties even further.
Togolese Prime Minister Yawovi Madji Agboyibo also met with the Chinese official. On this occasion, Zhai conveyed the greetings of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to the Togolese prime minister. Agboyibo said that China had for the last several years been advancing large sums of money in interest free aid to Togo. "This is real and visible help, the Togolese people and government are sincerely grateful for this gesture," the prime minister said.
China and Togo are two developing countries sharing a number of mutual interests and the continued growth of friendship and cooperation between them was in the best interest of the people of the two countries, according to Zhai.
Zhai, who arrived in Togo Tuesday for an official visit, held a meeting with Togolese foreign minister Zarifou Ayeva in which the two sides concluded a number of agreements on economic and technical cooperation.
Meanwhile, Zhai took part in the ceremony for laying the foundation of the new Chinese embassy in Togo.
