China Friday donated 200,000 U.S. dollars in cash to Pakistan for its disaster relief efforts.

At a ceremony here in Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhaohui said that the donation was made in view of the all-weather China-Pakistan friendship and the deep concern of the Chinese government over the Pakistani people affected by the recent floods.

He told Zhaukat Nawaz Tahir, a senior NDMA member, that for the same purpose, a batch of anti-malaria drugs worth one million Chinese yuan (one U.S. dollar is about 7.6 yuan) was delivered to the Pakistani health ministry on July 3.

Luo hoped that these charitable contributions could help the flood-affected people to get back to normal life soon.

Tahir said that the Pakistani government and people were very grateful to the assistance, which demonstrated the great friendship of Pakistan and China once again.

Since last week, hundreds of people have lost their lives in the southwestern Pakistani province of Balochistan and the southern Sindh province due to cyclone Yemyin, heavy rainfall and floods, which have left more than one million people homeless.
