Nepali-China Contemporary Dialogue held in Kathmandu |

The Nepali Institute of Foreign Affairs and the China Study Center-Nepal jointly organized a program on "Nepal-China Contemporary Dialogue" in Kathmandu on Friday.
Speaking at the program, Nepali Minister for Foreign Affairs Sahana Pradhan said Nepal is fortunate to have the world's largest economic giant like China as its immediate neighbor. Nepal could secure some economic gains by opening itself to China, she said while hailing the economic progress China has achieved in recent years. Foreign Minister Pradhan said Nepal, between two giant neighbors, China in north and India in south, should find a way to take advantage of its geographical location. She appreciated the cooperation Nepal has been receiving from both China and India. Visiting Vice President of China Institute of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) Li Shaoxian said China is glad to witness the progress Nepali people made in her peace process.
He expressed confidence that the positive development in Nepali political, economic and cultural sectors would benefit China as well. Li announced the plan to sign a memorandum of understanding ( MoU) with the China Study Center-Nepal. Also speaking at the program, Chinese ambassador to Nepal Zheng Xianglin expressed pleasure over the recent announcement by the Nepali government regarding the Constituent Assembly (CA) election date on Nov. 22. Ambassador Zheng said, "we sincerely hope that the CA poll scheduled to take place later this year would be held in successful manner." Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Friday morning met the visiting Chinese delegation in Kathmandu. The Chinese delegation began its five-day visit in Nepal from Thursday.
