Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam arrived in Beijing Monday afternoon, kicking off a six-day China visit at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao.

During his stay in the Chinese capital, Ramgoolam will meet with Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao, and exchange ideas on bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of common concern.

Prior to his China trip, Ramgoolam told Xinhua in an interview that he hoped his visit would further boost the existing close bilateral ties, and advance economic and trade cooperation.

Besides Beijing, Ramgoolam will also visit Shanghai, Anhui provincial capital Hefei and Hangzhou city in Zhejiang Province.
