The First 10+3 Media Cooperation Forum will be held in north China's port city of Tianjin on August 21, 2007, as learned from a recent press conference.

The Forum was proposed by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao at the 10th ASEAN Plus China, Japan and Republic of Korea (ROK) Summit ("10+3" Summit) held January in Cebu, the Philippines.

Xiao Huaiyuan, head of the publicity department of the CPC Tianjin Committee, delivers a speech at the news briefing.

The "10+3" cooperation cannot move forward without participation and support from all quarters of society, and we need to strengthen exchange and cooperation among media to extend the influence of East Asia, Wen said in a speech.

He Chongyuan, vice president of People's Daily, delivers a speech at the news briefing.

Themed "Strengthen media cooperation, Deliver Asian voice", the forum will feature in-depth discussions on three subjects: media's role in promoting the 10+3 cooperation; how to give a stronger "Asian voice" on the international area, and the 2008 Olympic Games as a magnificent event in Asia.

Dozens of major media organizations will attend the forum, including People's Daily from China, the Asahi Shimbun, Nikkei from Japan and the Straits Times from Singapore.

Zhang Jianxing, president of Tianjin Daily News Group, briefs on the preparations for the upcoming forum.

The Forum is sponsored by People's Daily, supported by Tianjin Binhai New Area and presented by Tianjin Daily News Group.
