Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to the central Asian country Kazakhstan will strengthen communication and coordination between China and Kazakhstan on regional and international issues and is conducive to regional and even world peace and stability, said China's Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
"It is believed that President Hu's state visit to Kazakhstan will inject more energy into the China-Kazakhstan strategic partnership," said Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui at a press briefing on Hu's three-nation tour to Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Russia from August 14 to 18.
Hu will visit Kazakhstan from August 17 to 18, during which he will hold talks with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and meet with other leaders of Kazakhstan. The two sides will exchange views on major issues of common concern and interests.
Li said that the two sides will also sign a series of cooperation agreements on politics, economy and trade.
During the three-nation tour, Hu will also attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit (SCO) in Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan, observe the SCO joint anti-terrorism military drill in Russia and pay a state visit to Kyrgyzstan.
Li noted that Hu's visit to Kazakhstan coincides with the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Kazakhstan, and thus is of significance to improving the strategic partnership, enhancing political mutual trust and deepening cooperation between the two countries to ensure rapid and healthy development of bilateral relations.
Li said China and Kazakhstan have made impressive achievements in identifying and cracking down on the "three evil forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism, and cooperated well within the framework of the United Nations, SCO and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.
Li said over recent years, the two countries have achieved fruitful results on cooperation in economic and trade, energy, transportation.
"China and Kazakhstan support each other firmly on crucial issues concerning sovereignty and security," Li added.
China-Kazakhstan trade volume hit 8.36 billion U.S.dollars last year, up 22.8 percent over the previous year. The trade volume for the first half of this year has reached 5.97 billion dollars, up 60.4 percent over the same period of last year.
