Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan met here Monday with Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Mali Seydou Traore.
Cao said China attaches great importance to developing friendly and cooperative ties with Mali and is ready to work with Mali to promote the ties towards a higher level.
Cao, also vice-chairman of China's Central Military Commission and State Councilor, said China appreciates the Malian government's adherence to the one-China policy.
Traore said he hopes the two armed forces will further develop their friendship and exchanges.
Traore was here for a China tour which will also take him to Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, and Guangzhou, capital of southern Guangdong Province. During his stay in Beijing, Traore will hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Liang Guanglie.
