Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and his Japanese counterpart Nobutaka Machimura on Thursday had a phone conversation, exchanging views on jointly pushing forward the bilateral relations.
Yang said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the Sino-Japanese ties and firmly sticks to carrying out the good-neighborliness policy toward Japan.
He said that China is willing to abide by, along with the Japanese side, the principles laid out in the three key bilateral political agreements, to make efforts in building up a strategic relationship of mutual benefit, to fully implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and to properly deal with the problems between the two countries.
Machimura said the Japanese-Chinese relations are making headway and the Japanese side is willing to make efforts to push for a greater development along with China.
The two ministers agreed to continue talks on the East Sea issue in an active and pragmatic way.
They also discussed the latest development on the six-party talks over the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.
