A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) pledged on Thursday to further exchanges with the Democrat Party of Thailand.

"The CPC would like to promote relations with the Thai Democrat party to push forward the ties between the two states," said Wu Guanzheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

During a meeting with visiting Thai Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, Wu said China and Thailand are close neighbors, and have enjoyed sound cooperation in the political, trade and cultural areas.

He said China will work with Thailand to promote all-round relationship as it conforms to the fundamental interest of the two countries and peoples.

Abhisit said no matter what happens in Thailand, Thai Democrat and government would maintain Thai-Chinese friendship and adhere to the one-China policy.
