Chinese Vice-Premier Hui Liangyu vowed in Beijing on Monday that China will made joint efforts with Hungary to enhance mutual-beneficial cooperation on economic and trade.

Addressing a Sino-Hungarian business forum, one of the key activities of the "Hungarian Season in China", Hui said the two countries have conducted fruitful cooperation in political, economic, cultural and technological fields since forging diplomatic ties some 50 years ago.

Hailing the current bilateral ties as "in the best form in history", Hui said the two-way economic and trade relations have experienced rapid growth, maintaining a good momentum on mutual investment and cooperation.

He called for Hungarian enterprises to further its research and development of Chinese market and expand its export and investment to China.

Meanwhile, the Chinese government will encourage domestic enterprises to invest more in Hungary, said the vice-premier.

"The bilateral economic and trade cooperation is bound to have a bright prospect and develop in a more healthy and steady way with the joint effort of the governments and enterprises of both countries,"he said.

Hungarian Prime Minister Gyurcsany Ferenc, who arrived here Sunday for a four-day official visit, also delivered a speech at the forum.

He said the exchange of visits between high-level officials have greatly enhanced the economic and trade relations between the two sides.

China has became Hungary's most important trade partner in Asia in the past five years, said Gyurcsany, adding that he hopes Hungary could become China's gateway of trade, investment, logistics, finance and tourism in Central and East Europe.

The Prime Minister said the economic and trade activities during "Hungarian season in China", a festival held in major Chinese cities between September 2007 and April 2008, will demonstrate Hungary's unique advantage as a bridge between China and Europe, and will provides great possibilities for future cooperation in fields like hi-tech.

Some 400 delegates from Chinese and Hungarian enterprises attended the forum, which was jointly sponsored by Chinese Ministry of Commerce and Hungarian Ministry of Economy and Transport.

Statistics from the Chinese customs show that the trade volume between China and Hungary reached 2.09 billion U.S. dollars in the first five months of 2007, up 45.8 percent over the same period last year.
