Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong met here Wednesday with Yahya Bin Mahfoodh Bin Salim Al-Manthri, president of State Council of the Sultanate of Oman.
Zeng put forward four-point proposal to improve Sino-Omani relations, including maintaining mutual respect and equal treatment; conducting reciprocal cooperation; promoting personnel exchange; and enhancing cooperation in the international and regional arena.
"Chinese government attaches importance to the relations with Oman and would like to strengthen the cooperation," he said.
Hailing the smooth progress of relationship since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1978, Zeng particularly mentioned the fruitful cooperation on trade and energy resources, as well as on education, culture, and public health.
Mahfoodh said Oman will continue to further relations with China.
Mahfoodh headed a delegation to visit China from Sept. 4 to 10 at the invitation of Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress(NPC).
