"The future of the world rests on young people, who will decide a nation's long-term development strategy," said Han Qide, vice chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, when meeting a Pakistani youth delegation on Wednesday.
"Chinese and Pakistani youths exchanging visits will surely strengthen mutual understanding and secure our traditional friendship," Han said.
Echoing Han's remarks, Ashfaq Mahmood, Secretary of Pakistani Ministry of Youth Affairs, who led the delegation, said that large-scale youth exchanges "will benefit bilateral ties and regional peace and development." He pledged to enhance youth exchanges to carry on traditional friendship between the two countries.
Besides Beijng, the guests will also visit China's less-developed western city of Lanzhou and the financial hub Shanghai so as to have a full picture of China.
Chinese President Hu Jintao invited 500 young people from Pakistan to visit China in 5 years when he paid a state visit to Pakistan in last November.
To realize this, the All China Youth Federation (ACYF) invited the first batch of 105 delegates from Pakistan to visit China.
A 100-member Chinese youth delegation has paid a visit to Pakistan in March, according to the ACYF.
