Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in Beijing Monday after a state visit to Australia and attending the 2007 APEC Economic Leaders Meeting on Sept. 8-9.

Hu was invited by Australian Governor-General Michael Jeffery and Prime Minister John Howard and started his trip from Sept. 3.

During the visit, Hu and top Australian leaders discussed further development of bilateral relations and world and regional issues of common concern.

In Sydney, Hu attended the APEC Economic Leaders Meeting, which was dominated with discussions on issues such as how to support the multilateral trading system, tackle climate change, enhance regional economic integration, and eliminate "behind-the-border" barriers to competition.

Hu also met leaders of other APEC members on the sidelines of the meeting.
