A top leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), whose support is crucial for the survival of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's coalition government, has called for an energy security grid involving New Delhi, Beijing and Moscow, the Indian Express newspaper reported Wednesday.
CPI (M) General Secretary Prakash Karat, whose party is staunchly opposed to India's nuclear deal with the United States, has made this suggestion in his book titled "Subordinate Ally, the Nuclear Deal and Indo-US Strategic Relations", which the news report said would be released next week.
He says the rejection of the nuclear accord with the United States will be the "first step" in stopping the Indian government from what he calls its pro-imperialist path.
His book is a compilation of his "re-edited" articles, the Indian Express said.
