By 2020, the distance of China's railway operation will reach 100,000 kilometers; more than 12,000 kilometers are for Passenger Dedicated Lines, according to Hu Yadong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Railways at the opening of Modern Railways 2007 on September 6, 2007.
Modern Railways 2007 introduces seven topics on China's railway system, including the Qinghai-Tibet Railway Line, the sixth round of train speed acceleration, modernizing railways, the Datong-Qinhuangdao Heavy Haul Railway, and passenger lines.
Some world-famous railway companies, such as Siemens, French Alstom and General Electric, came to the exhibition with their most advanced railway technology and expressed their serious interest in China's railway market.
