China's third batch of peacekeepers departed from Jinan International Airport on Monday evening to join the United Nation's commission in southwest Sudan's Wau region.
The 141-member team came from an armored division and logistics of Jinan Military Area Command. The remaining peacekeepers will leave on Sept. 22 and 26.
The third batch of Chinese peacekeepers for Wau consists of 435 people including one engineer unit, one transportation unit and a medical unit.
"They will continue to implement the U.N.'s commission of engineering, transportation, medical aid and other tasks," said Dai Shao'an, vice director of the Defense Ministry's office of peacekeeping affairs.
China took part in the UN peacekeeping operation in southwest Sudan's Wau region in May 2006 and its second batch of peacekeepers deployed in southern Sudan arrived in Wau in January this year.
Chinese military also announced on Saturday that it would deploy engineers and a medical unit to Sudan's troubled Darfur region next month as part of a UN. peacekeeping mission.
