The Second China-Japan Forum on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection is scheduled to convene on Sep. 27 and 28 in Beijing, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced on Wednesday.

The first forum took place in Tokyo from May 29 to 31 last year.

This forum will be co-hosted by China's NDRC and Ministry of Commerce, and Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Japan-China Association on Economy and Trade.

This forum aims to promote exchanges of energy-saving and environmental conservation technologies between the two countries. It is expected that almost 1,000 officials, scholars and businessmen from both countries would participate in the forum.

They would exchange views on electricity, automobiles, electric machinery, energy-saving policies, energy-efficient buildings and long-term Sino-Japan trade agreements.

In recent years, the Chinese government has adjusted the nation's development mode to encourage energy conservation and emissions reduction.

"China will enhance cooperation with Japan in energy-saving, environmental protection, new technology, disaster prevention, and small and medium-sized enterprises", said China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin during his visit to Japan earlier this month.
